Distributed, high resolution sensing techniques using optical frequency domain reflectometry
Wednesday 19th November 2008
10.00 - 10.20
Auditorium 1

The talk will discuss various sensing techniques such as Fiber Bragg Gratings and Rayleigh backscattering for parameter measurement in various environments. The talk will discuss the measurement principles,strengths,weakness and specific field use examples.

About the Speaker(s):

Alexander Sang
Project Research Engineer
Luna Technologies, USA

Alex Sang is an Engineer at Luna Innovations. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a BSc and Msc in Aerospace Engineering. Since joining Luna, Mr. Sang has led a team of engineers in the design and testing of shear flow, single-point and distributed pressure and temperature sensors for the Oil & Gas industries. His current work includes the development of algorithms to facilitate high temperature, high strain measurements using Rayleigh backscatter. He graduates with a PHD in Aerospace Summer 08
